So, this weekend i had the privilege of hanging out with the coolest guys around. i went to camp with my friends from baldwin high school where i do YOUNGLIFE( the greatest thing ever invented). YL camps are special because when you go as a leader you dont have to do anything but hangout with your kids which is awesome because through that you get to know them so much better.
i went into camp thinking that i was gonna have fun with my boys on elast time before i quit doing YL in may, but its funny how things change once relationships grow. long story short by the time camp was over on sunday i had realized that there was no way in this world i could go through the rest of my life without YL. i mean if wasnt for Gods use of YL i wouldnt be a believer myself. YL has been the biggest blessing in my life and i will continue to give my time and energy away to high schoolers until i am old and dead.
sharptop cove 09 will for me go down in history as the best time i have had with my boys ever, not just because of all the fun that we experienced but also bc of all the talks about God we had! as a leader i have been scared in the past to ask them the hard questions and have always walked away from camp thinking why the heck didnt i say this or why didnt i just tell them like i was and let them soak it up however they felt necessary..? but this year was different because i finally had the stones to say the hard thing that maybe they didnt want to hear and maybe/ more than likely had never thought about. and my boys were open about their thoughts and feelings and as womanly as it sounds, we spent time just talking and being honest with each other and our struggles strengths and life stuff..
Thank you God for showing up to camp and hanging out with us.. youre are one of a kind.

CONTUBERNIUM

CONTUBERNIUM IS A NON-PROFIT MINISTRY.  IT IS A MINISTRY EXISTING TO RECONCILE ONES HEART BY SEEKING THE FACE OF GOD THROUGH NATURE, TO FURTHER THE DISCIPLESHIP OF CHRIST.

TWO YEARS AGO I (CHARLES AVIRETT) WENT ON A MENS RETREAT CALLED ADVENTURES OF THE HEART. MY WORLD WAS ROCKED AS I HEARD FOR THE FIRST TIME OF THIS GOD WHO WANTED TO WALK LIFE WITH ME AND WANTED TO LIVE THE ADVENTURE WITH ME. YOU SEE, GROWING UP I HAD ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT GOD WAS UP THERE^ AND I WAS DOWN HERE ON EARTH AND HE WAS THERE IF WE NEEDED HELP OR WANTED SOMETHING, BUT NOT JUST TO BE THERE THROUGH IT ALL, GOOD OR BAD. SO, THIS NEW IDEA CHANGED THE WHOLE WAY I VIEWED LIFE.

SINCE THEN, GOD HAS BEEN CHANGING MY LIFE AND REALLY JUST GETTING ME UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE WAY I HAD BEEN LIVING. I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF BEING A VOLUNTEER LEADER WITH YOUNGLIFE FOR SOME TIME NOW AND HAD PLANNED, UPON GRADUATING COLLEGE, TO GO ON STAFF WITH YOUNGLIFE. WELL, WHAT I THOUGHT AND WHAT GOD HAS FOR ME ARENT ALWAYS THE SAME IDEA. YOU SEE, GOD HAD A DIFFERENT PLAN FOR ME.

GODS PLAN FOR ME WAS TO LEAD A WILDERNESS MINISTRY FOR MEN. WHICH IS AWESOME BECAUSE MY WHOLE LIFE I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ENTHRALLED WITH THE OUTDOORS, HIKING, WHITEWATER RAFTING, MOUNTAINEERING, CLIMBING, AND KAYAKING. PRETTY MUCH AS LONG AS IT WAS OUTSIDE I WANTED TO DO IT.

SO RIGHT NOW IM JUST SEEING HOW FAR THE RABIT HOLE GOES, AND REALLY JUST RUNNING HARD AFTER GODS CALLING FOR MY LIFE. I HAVE AN INTERNSHIP IN WYOMING THIS SUMMER WITH SOLID ROCK OUTDOOR MINISTRIES AND I AM EXCITED. SO I BEG YOU TO JUST PRAY FOR CLARITY IN CALLING AND BOLDNESS TO FOLLOW.
